The first Metronik projects of renewing the distribution control centre which provides operators with direct control over the operation of the boiler room, water station and remote heat stations network from the single location was implemented in 1997. In 2008, Metronik implemented the comprehensive project solution of MePIS Energy production system, which extended the cooperation from the field of automation to production IT. At the Energetika Ljubljana utility company 55 Proficy iFix clients are installed (GE Intelligent Platforms), which help in visualizing more than 200 process signals. Energetika Ljubljana uses Proficy Historian and Proficy Real-Time information portal.

Since 1991 Metronik has successfully implemented several automation projects as well as air-conditioning, ventilation and power supply devices automation projects at the Cankarjev dom cultural and congress centre. Metronik’s systems also provide remote control of electrical loads. In implementing the projects industrial standard control equipment by GE Intelligent Platforms, Honeywell and OPTO 22 as well as the SCADA Proficy iFix (GE Intelligent Platforms) software has been applied.

As part of the construction of the Terme 3000 complex Metronik has implemented a computer based control and supervisory system of energy devices which provides simple management of the entire complex and effective use of energy sources. Metronik’s system has automated the heating of facilities, preparation of pool water, lighting, control of pool features, distribution and separation of thermal water, chemical processing of wastewater, boiler room and heating of the Ajda hotel. The system provides effective pumping and preparation of geothermal water from three wells, preprocessing of water in all pools as well as energy management, ventilation and air-conditioning of the complete complex. This way an effective use of energy sources and effective maintenance are provided. The system is based on control products by Honeywell and GE Intelligent Platforms as well as the SCADA Proficy iFix (GE Intelligent Platforms) software.

At the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik airport, Metronik completed an air-conditioning and ventilation as well as energy management automation system for the passenger terminals and the business and supporting airport facilities. Metronik’s control system provides management and control of the following systems: external lighting at the landing platform, lighting within the building, security lighting, power system, elevators, fire-protection systems, air-fog extinguishing systems, sky bridges as well as auxiliary power supply systems of the building. The installed system includes devices for the preparation and distribution of energy media for heating and cooling of the facility, devices for convector heating and cooling as well as air-conditioning and ventilation devices or systems. The system is based on industrial standard control equipment by GE Intelligent Platforms and the Proficy iFix SCADA software.

In 2009, Metronik completed the automation of the Lucija hotel in Portorož. The central control system provides the maintenance staff with the possibility of centralised management of all machine and power systems, managing lighting, individual setting of the required temperature in hotel rooms and provides immediate information on system errors by way of SMS messages. Due to the high requirements regarding energy efficiency an integration of the automation of hotel rooms with the hotel information system (HIS) and access control has also been implemented. This provides the hotel with automatic setting of operation modes in hotel rooms with regard to the reservations in the HIS system.

The automation project has been implemented by using equipment of globally recognized producers GE Intelligent Platforms and Honeywell. The system also includes the Honeywell XL1000 fire alarm system. The central control system is based on the GE Proficy iFix SCADA software.

In 2009, Metronik implemented an automation system for the winter Riviera at the Terme Čatež resort, which includes three wellness areas Kupola I, II and III. Metronik's system ensures a comprehensive management and control of energy systems and a system for managing pool effects. The system includes the automation of heating substations for the preparation and distribution of pool water, control of air-conditioning devices and pool filters within a control system as well as integration of a multimedia lighting along with pool effects management. By implementing the computer system, the maintenance staff is now able to centrally manage all the devices across the wellness areas while at the same time care is taken for the operation of pool effects according to the predefined schedules. The system automation has been implemented by using GE Intelligent Platforms GE-IP Versamax and Honeywell controllers. The central control system is operated based on GE Proficy iFix SCADA software.
