Telekom Slovenije

Since 2007, Metronik implemented and keeps expanding a central infrastructure monitoring system which today monitors more than 200 remote locations (local centres) where equipment by Telekom Slovenia. Central monitoring system by Metronik controls energy and environment conditions in facilities, where equipment by Telekom Slovenije and other lessees of Telekom’s infrastructure (T2, Mobitel, Amis,..) is in operation. The system of remote control supervises the quality and consumption of electric power, current air-conditioning parameters within the facilities, operation of the integrated devices in control rooms (air-conditioning units, batteries,...) and ensures the allocation of cost for electric power between the location lessees. At individual locations, OPTO 22 SNAP-PAC1 controllers are provided which perform the acquisition of data from various devices and are linked to the control centre by using an Ethernet network. At the control centre the Proficy iFiX SCADA software and the Proficy Historian process archive (GE Intelligent Platforms) are in operation. The users from various areas may access data from the control system via the remote terminal server technology (iFix iClient Terminal Server, GE Intelligent Platforms). All the system alarms are via the SNMP protocol transferred to the main Telecom monitoring system.

Slovene Railways

Since 2003, Metronik provides the Slovenian Railways with railway station and control centre automation projects. The control system which is installed at 32 railway stations and two traffic control centres provides lighting control, heating, switches operation and control of air-conditioning and energy devices at the individual stations. At the control level, OPTO22 distributed control and I/O have been used including SNAP-PAC R1 controllers with integrated Ethernet communication, intelligent Ethernet I/O and communication modules. At the control level iFix SCADA software by GE Intelligent Platforms is used. In control centres redundant SCADA serves are used which provide high-level reliability. The system features an integrated SQL server, where all alarm events received directly from the controllers and also from SCADA applications are stored where they remain available for further analyses.

Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant

In 2002, Metronik in cooperation with the Artes company developed a system for the acquisition and sequence of events monitoring at Block 4 of the Šoštanj thermal power plant. In 2003, the system has been applied also in block 5 The system automatically detects a major sequence of events resulting from any error within the energy system while enabling the acquisition of several thousand sequential events at millisecond resolution. In a few seconds it also displays a processed chronological signal lists which provides the operator with the possibility of continuous monitoring and reacting on time upon any failure of the energy system. The system which is based on extremely fast input/output units by OPTO 22 and the Proficy Historian server, archives all the changes and enables a study of the event history. At the Šoštanj thermal power plant there are more than 60 Proficy iFix SCADA stations by GE Intelligent Platforms for process control in operation.

Vodovod-Kanalizacija, Ljubljana water company

For the water supply division of the Vodovod-Kanalizacija Ljubljana utility company Metronik has implemented a telemetry system for the control and management of the water supply network (pumping stations, water tanks, repumping stations). Later, a telemetry control and management system has been put in place also for the sewage division (pumping stations, wastewater processing plants). Metronik telemetry system based on OPTO22 distributed controllers in over 70 water pumping stations and reservoirs, communicating via FM radio modems and electrical lines to the central contol room of Ljubljana water company which is equipped with Proficy iFix SCADA monitoring and control system .

Energetika Ljubljana

Energetika Ljubljana is a district heating company in the city of Ljubljana. Metronik successfully finished several projects for Energetika Ljubljana in the field of process control and production management. Metronik implemented complex supervisory system for main control room consisting of several SCADA servers and clients as well as large process historian. Metronik developed process control system for Energetika’s absorption based cooling facility, the biggest cooling energy plant in Slovenia based on use of heat. Finally, Metronik developed and implemented MePIS Energy system, comprehensive information platform for production management and analysis. Energetika Ljubljana is using more than 10 iFix SCADA Servers, more than 50 iFix client nodes, Proficy Real Time Information Portal, Proficy Workflow, Proficy Historian and Proficy Change Management (GE Intelligent Platforms).
